TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

GOAL:

Multisensory Reading Clinic aims to provide effective lifetime solutions to the Student's difficulties in learning to read, write, spell, and comprehend so that the Student can become a lifelong independent learner. 

 

 

TUTORING:

Depending on the Student's needs,  Multisensory Reading Clinic  could provide a tutoring in the following subjects:

  • Reading, Spelling, Basic Sentence, and Paragraph Writing, Handwriting, Comprehension, and Vocabulary in an intensive, structured, explicit, multisensory, cognitive, systematic, and cumulative but flexible phonics and research-based instruction.

     

OBLIGATIONS:

   Multisensory Reading Clinic

  • The Multisensory Reading Clinic undertakes to do all preparation prior to sessions and to structure lessons in such a way as to optimize time to the benefit  of the Student

  • The Multisensory Reading Clinic shall keep confidential all information about the Student and shall contact other parties involved in the education of the Student only if given written permission by the Student to do so.

  • The Multisensory Reading Clinic shall not assign its duties or obligations to a third party without written permission by the Student.

  • The Multisensory Reading Clinic shall at no time be required or obliged to execute homework or assignments on behalf of the Student

   Student

  • The Student undertakes to assist the Multisensory Reading Clinic in identifying problem areas in which he needs specific tutoring.

 

TUTORING SESSIONS:

  • Learning to read is not an easy task for a Student with language difficulty especially if he has also other disabilities and disorders. It is exhausting. It takes a lot of energy and concentration. Therefore, the Student needs to be rested and not hungry before his sessions, so that he is alert and can give the Tutor his full attention.

  • The Student’s progress varies and it depends on many factors, such as how often the Student sees the Tutor, his degree of language difficulty, his independent work, what is going on in his life, etc.

  • The initial lessons of the Multisensory Reading and Spelling Program with the Student are very important. They are the backbone for learning to read.  Also, each lesson is linked to the next lesson. The Student needs to have a firm foundation of the concepts, skills, and elements previously taught and must become automatic in the use of sounds and phoneme segmentation, so that the next lesson won't be jeopardized.

  • Although the Multisensory Reading Clinic aims to speed up the process of the treatment, so that the Student can reach his appropriate grade level as soon as possible, it is essential to proceed with caution not to overload the Student with too much information at the same time.

  • The more severe language difficulty the Student has, the longer the tretment, and the more practice the Student needs - a substantial practice of the learned concepts is one of the most important aspects of the treatment, therefore the Multisensory Reading Clinic encourages the Student to borrow wordcards, optional, to bring at home for practice.

  • The parent can support the Student by providing specific positive feedback and praise for his accomplishment and can assist the Student by helping him to review the lessons through wordcards, and/or worksheets, etc., the Multisensory Reading Clinic has assigned to the Student.  

  

 

NO WARRANTIES:

  • The Multisensory Reading Clinic makes no promises or warranties with regards to a Student’s performance as a result of any tutoring provided.

 

 

TUTORING OPTIONS:

  • A  Student needs to choose a tutoring option, either by session or by term: The by session option has the following choices: 30, 45, 60,100, or unlimited sessions.  The by term option has the following choices: fall term from September to December; winter term from January to March; spring term from April to June and summer term from July to August

  • The number of the Student sessions will depend on his needs and his capacity to learn and MUST be adjusted for the benefit of the Student. However, each option requires a minimum of 2 sessions per week and a maximum of 6 sessions per week.  Each session or timeslot has 55 minutes of tutoring and the Student can take a  maximum of two timeslots (110 minutes) per visit with a 10 minutes break in between.

 

       By session: 

□   15 Sessions

□   30 Sessions

□   45 Sessions         

□   60 Sessions

□   100 Sessions

□   Unlimited Sessions until the Student will reach his appropriate reading level

 

       By term:

□   Fall: September – December

□   Winter: January - March

□   Spring: April - June

□   Summer: July -August

     

      Additional Sessions/term:

  • If the Student wants to have additional sessions or a term, he MUST let the Multisensory Reading Clinic know as soon as possible, or before his 10 remaining sessions or three weeks before his term ends. If the Student does not inform the clinic, his timeslots will be given to other students and if he decides to continue with the program, he will be on the waitlist.

   

MATERIALS:

  • All of the materials including but not limited to this terms and conditions, forms, worksheets, charts, wordcards are the property of the Multisensory Reading Clinic and MUST be returned to the clinic. NO part of the Multisensory Reading Clinic's materials may be reproduced or utilized in any form or by any electronic or mechanical means including copying without the clinic's written permission.

 

Optional

□   $75 deposit for wordcards and a carrying case to bring at home for practice, highly recommended. This deposit will be given back to the Student after the tutoring service if all the wordcards and the carrying case would be returned to the clinic with the same conditions as they were received

 

 

RECORDINGS:

  • Taking pictures, videotaping, and audiotaping of any Multisensory Reading Clinic's lessons/sessions, meetings, and consultations with a Student,  parent/guardian or any of the Student's representatives are STRICTLY prohibited

 

 

READING ASSESSMENT

 Due to the Multisensory Reading Clinic's hectic schedule, the clinic can only offer a reading assessment service for its incoming students and for literacy consultation. 

  • We do not have a reading assessment written report service option but taking notes during the meeting is permitted. 

  • A Student has the option to pay for the reading assessment service fee in full or half of it via Interac before the appointment. The remaining balance is due before the parent/s meeting.

  • Appointments are not confirmed until the payment is received.

  • Delayed payments could result in changes to the Student's appointments' schedule and will be based on the availability of the office. It could also result in a cancellation of the Student's appointment/s.

 

TUTORING SCHEDULE

  • The Multisensory Reading Clinic has a very fast-paced environment with a few minutes interval between each session and the clinic does not want any of the Students to wait for their lessons, therefore each Student MUST respect the time stipulated on his schedule and he is only allowed to come in the office five minutes before his lessons.

  • Also, the Student MUST leave as soon as his session is finished or else he will wait outside of the office, thus the parent MUST be on time to pick up the Student. 

 

LATE ARRIVAL:

  • Fees are calculated according to the time stipulated in the schedule and no adjustment shall be made for the time lost because of late arrival by the Student.

CANCELLATIONS  AND ABSENCES

 

   By Student:

  • If for some reasons, the Student is unable to attend a tutoring session, he needs to let the Multisensory Reading Clinic know, as soon as possible or at least 24 hours before the Student's session starts

  • Lessons not attended by the Student without calling shall be charged at a full rate.

  • There will be a maximum of three make-up sessions for any reasons for every 60 SESSIONS, non-cumulative, without penalty and the office will try its best to reschedule the missing sessions as soon as possible.

  • Further cancellations after the three sessions will be charged at a full rate or our service could be discontinued.

  •  If the Student misses three consecutive appointments without calling, the service will be discontinued. If frequent appointments are missed and/or cancelled, service could also be discontinued.

 

   By Multisensory Reading Clinic:

  • The Multisensory Reading Clinic may cancel lessons of the Student, in which case no fees shall be incurred and the clinic shall reschedule the Student’s session as soon as possible.

 

FEES:

 

  • The fees involved are only for tutoring service

  • Other services such as writing tutoring reports, meeting/talking with teachers and other professionals and/or for dyslexia advocacy require additional fees

  • Initial meeting with parent/s is complementary, additional meeting with parent/s must be done within the timeslot of the Student.

 

PAYMENTS:

  • All of the Multisensory Reading Clinic's services are made on a first-come, first served basis.

  • Payments must be received at the time stipulated or sessions will be cancelled and the Student will be charged at a full rate for the clinic's time lost. Remember, these time slots are reserved for the Student.  After the delayed payment, a full payment of the remaining and future sessions is mandatory or service could be discontinued.

  •  Payments can be made via Interac, by cash ($500.00 maximum amount, in person only) or by check made out to the Multisensory Reading Clinic.

  • There will be a MANDATORY $20 fee for every returned check and payment MUST be received within 5 business days. All sessions will be cancelled until the payment is received and the Student will be charged at a full rate for the clinic's time lost. The ONLY acceptable form of payment after the returned check/s is via Interac. 

 

TUTORING PAYMENT PLANS

 

     Please choose a payment plan:

□   Plan A: Full Payment

By Session: five business days before the session starts

BY Term: the first day of each month before the session starts

□   Plan B: Full payment

By Session: N/A

By Term: the first month must be paid in full five business days before the session starts, the next payment is due on the 10th of each month

□   Plan C: Two installments:

By Session: 50% five business days before the session starts and the remaining 50% is due before the middle term (i.e 15th session for 30 sessions option)

By Term: 50% first day of each month and 50% is due on the 15th day of each month before the session starts

□   Plan D: Via INTERAC Weekly Instalment.

Payment must be received 5 business days before the start of the Student’s first day of his weekly session (ie. if the Student’s weekly sessions start on Monday the payment is due five business days before that Monday.

□   Plan E: By CASH (in-person  only) Weekly instalment

Payment must be received 5 business days before the start of the Student’s first day of his weekly session (i.e. if the child’s weekly sessions start on Monday, the payment is due five business days before that Monday

 

 

TERMINATIONS AND REFUNDS

   By Multisensory Reading Clinic

  • Multisensory Reading Clinic, at its sole discretion, may deem that the service will not likely benefit the Student. In such situation, Multisensory Reading Clinic will within 10 business days refund a prorated amount for all unused sessions. The Student will have no recourse other than the refund.

   By Student

  • The Student can terminate the agreement at any time by giving the Multisensory Reading Clinic 15 business days, prior written notice. In such a situation, Multisensory Reading Clinic will within 10 business days refund the 50% amount for all unused sessions.

 

STATUS OF THE MULTISENSORY READING CLINIC

  • It is expressly understood that the Student retains the services of the Multisensory Reading Clinic as an independent contractor and not as an employee.

 

 

MINORS

Where the Student is a legal minor, the Parent/Guardian shall accept and agree to all terms and conditions contained herein on behalf of the Student.
