The letters of the alphabet cannot teach a child learn to read & spell but it is the sounds!

When we learn how to read and spell English words, we need to learn the phonemes, the sounds and not the letters of the alphabet because the sounds are the basic building blocks of words. The letters of the alphabet are only useful in the advanced concept of learning to read and spell such as learning the vowel-consonant e syllable or the silent e.
